Foreign Contribution Regulation Act & Rules 1976 is replaced by Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 2010 & Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules 2011.
FCRA 2010 received the assent of the President on the 26th September, 2010 & notification relating the foreign contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011 Published on 29th April, 2011. The FCRA 2010 and foreign contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011 is effective form 01st may 2011.
The FCRA 2010 is an act to consolidate the Law to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality by certain individuals associations or companies and to prohibit acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality for any activities detrimental to the National interest and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
At the moment more than 35000 institutions receiving around Rs.10500 crore of foreign contribution are registered with Ministry of Home affairs under FCRA to accept foreign contribution.
